The Sari Diaries- Wednesday 7/6/16

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Thanks for checking in with us tonight at #TheRanch2016…I write this evening with a lot to report from today. If you read below, you will have the privilege of knowing just how awesome our day truly was. Here it goes…

Because of yesterday’s rain, the canoe trip for the first sessioners from A-Frame, Boots and Cactus was delayed until today. I dropped them off at the starting point and they were hyped! It was the perfect day for a paddle and they enjoyed their time together on the lake!

At rest hour, the cabin of C-C had a surprise visitor. Pamela Adler, the previous owner of CRC, stopped by to say hi and introduce herself. Her name and address are written on the cabin walls from long ago and some of the C-C campers (Reese L and Halle G) thought they would write her a letter. Her mom received the letter and told Pamela all about it. She thought it would be fun to reply to their letter in person :). They were so excited to meet her and to learn that they were the first C-C campers to actually write to her from that wall post. They took a photo to commemorate the occasion and the campers have not stopped talking about it!

This evening we had the Ojibwa social and as always, they were very wonderful hosts. Monster Entertainment was the DJ and they blasted some great tunes so the Chippies could show off their dance moves. We got lots of good sibling and cousin photos, so be sure to check those out tomorrow.

Once we were all back at camp, Tans and Whites got dressed in all black and headed to the Center Fire Circle for one of the most popular Tan & White events each summer- Stalk the Lantern. Counselors placed their chairs in a bulls-eye around the South Field and were excited for the game to begin. As we called “Group 1” from the middle of the bulls-eye, campers tried various methods to make their way toward us. The Neutrals sat in the center and tried to find campers using short flashlight blasts. I love being in the center with the Neutrals…we strategize and work together to get campers out. Depending on how close they are to the bulls-eye when they are caught, they get a certain amount of points…the center is 100. My favorite attempt to get to the middle was by Lily G. She legit ninja-rolled her way to 100 points for the Tan Team. It was an amazing night for all and the Whites were the official winners of First Session Stalk the Lantern 2016!

And those are the highlights from our incredible day in Chippyland. I will miss you all tomorrow as Soph-Aloaf is back to her normal Thursday posts. Thanks for reading tonight- talk to you soon!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
