The Sari Diaries- Tuesday 8/2/16

Monday, August 01 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

It has been a wonderful post-Realm day at CRC! It rained a bit this morning but we were able to have regular afternoon activities after doing Kahuna Day sign-ups during rest hour. Lots of good things were happening from morning till night and I am here to tell you all about them. So here it goes…

This morning we all headed to first period and about five minutes into it, the sky got a bit dark and the rain began pouring down. Campers headed back to their cabins to practice lip sync, which is coming soon. Rumor has it, this is going to be the very best lip sync in the history of lip syncs! The sun eventually came out around lunch time and the cheers were loud when we announced we would be able to run third, fourth and fifth periods. I walked around a bit this afternoon and got to see camp back in action after a two day activity hiatus (cabin day on Sunday and Realm yesterday). While the past two days have been awesome, the return to our normal routine was nice!

This evening was Big and Little Sis Night and it was a huge success. The CITs have been planning this for weeks and they definitely created an amazing night for all of the big and little sisters. My favorite event was the big sweatpant race- it was a pretty funny sight. In order to change things up a bit, when campers got to the theater, there was a huge dance party. They loved the entire night and it was clear that there was some serious bonding going on between our older and younger campers. This is always one of my favorite nights- the best part is how much the big sisters love it. It is obvious that the youngest campers would be so happy hanging with the older girls but I think it is so cool how much the big ones enjoy it too. It is just another reminder of how special this place is.

As I sit at my desk right now, I am hearing screams coming from the theater as Big and Little Sis night is ending. There are cheers and giggles while some campers are running towards canteen and a few lucky ones are heading into the vans for Cathy’s. A big congratulations to the winners…there was a tie between Sara G & Mia F and Lily S & Lila I. All four were very excited and are looking forward to their ice cream tonight!

And that’s about all for now…time for bed at #TheRanch2016! Have a good night- thanks for reading!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari

P.S. I just walked out of the office to find Lily K, Kylie C and Jolie W making up a dance full of Chippy moves to “A Chippewa Girl.” They were very excited to show me and I was impressed with their choreography! I love the multi-age-group interaction and bonding!

P.P.S. Now I just left a meeting in the main house living room with Lakeview. We discussed their final days as campers and went over some of their Chippy Awards ideas. I am amazed at their motivation to make this Chippy Awards unique and memorable for the entire #TheRanch2016 community. They are excited and I am feeling very confident in this program which will kick off the last week of camp!

Okay- now that’s really all…goodnight!
