The Sari Diaries- Tuesday 7/3/18

Monday, July 02 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

After an outstanding day at CRC, I am back at my desk to reflect on all that happened and to hopefully articulate all of the awesomeness with you. As I am writing, campers are laying out their 4th of July gear in anticipation of tomorrow, which is no doubt going to be an epic day! In terms of today though, here’s the dealio…

After breakfast, the United Nations Day captains were announced. The entire camp headed straight to the Center Fire Circle eager to learn who these captains would be. Each summer, four Colt Village captains and four Wrangler Village captains are selected by their counselors to serve as captains of this very important day. This honor is given based on campers’ demonstration of leadership, spirit and kindness throughout their years at camp. We have eight very deserving campers who we know will lead their teams to an amazing day. The captains include Julia H, Avery R, Samantha R, Sarah K, Emma S, Nicole L, Skylar S and Lindsay B. Way to go!

Regular activities were excellent all day long. Over at archery, the success continued as Izzy R became a member of the Olympic Club and shot 40 golds today! Additionally, Coco, C got a gold at the far target…amazing accomplishment! Meanwhile, at waterskiing, Dylan G got up and around the lake on two. After four plus summers of working at this, we are so proud of this achievement! At outdoor cooking, a good time was had by all as campers cooked a delicious treat over the campfire.

This evening we loaded the buses and headed over to Camp Ojibwa. It was an awesome social with entertainment provided by Monster, oversized Uno and delicious cookies. Campers were excited to see their brothers, cousins and friends…and to eat the amazing cookies (wait, did I mention that twice…yes, they were that good). We had a ton of fun with our Eagle River neighbors and appreciate their hospitality!

For now, that’s all I’ve got. I am soooo excited for tomorrow and all that the day will bring. Lakeview has been working incredibly hard over the past two weeks to make this a day that campers will love. I am looking forward to Lakeview getting to see the fruits of their labor pay off and also for the campers to enjoy what I know will be one of the best days of the summer!

Okay, thanks for reading…and HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
