The Sari Diaries- Sunday 7/24/16

Saturday, July 23 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Welcome back to The Sari Diaries- I am glad you have decided to read this evening’s post. Today was crazy- it was kind of a Sunday and kind of a Monday. We had a Sunday morning breakfast but then ran Monday regular activities and I am pretty sure everyone felt like we got the best of both worlds! Here are the details…

This morning at breakfast, I sat with Marissa Y and Lily H. They have both been at camp for a number of years but have always gone different sessions. They sat together on the bus up to camp and hit it off. The way they were talking, it seemed like they had been friends for ages. It was pretty cute and a wonderful way start my day!

I had the opportunity to give a couple of tours this morning and my favorite part was going into Silverspurs, where we were greeted with a very warm welcome. They told the family how awesome Chippewa was and were very excited to show off their beds. They then took turns explaining the job chart in great detail. The counselors were right in there with them and fully engaged…the whole scene couldn’t have been better if we had planned it! I always love giving tours mostly because it is so cool to witness the pride our campers have in showing off #TheRanch2016.

Tonight was legit one of my favorites of camp thus far. Tom Pease came and sang with us at the Center Fire Circle. I always look forward to this night because it brings me back to my camper days singing and dancing around the fire circle with my age group and counselors. I can remember specific moments of singing “Wobbi Do Wop” and “Belly Button,” and everyone singing to Cheri Baker. Twenty years later I am singing the same songs but with an entirely new group of people. That said, it still gives me the same feeling- one of pure and utter joy.

As soon as Tom began, hundreds of Chippies rose from their seats and the excitement was palpable. The energy was at its peak tonight and I managed to make my way around the circle to dance with almost everyone. Tom Pease has a way of making everyone feel like an eight year old- there is not a sole around that circle who felt self-conscious…every single one of us just sang and danced our hearts out…it was awesome!

And that is July 24th, 2016 at CRC. It was an outstanding day :). Thanks for reading tonight- have a good one!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
