The Sari Diaries- Sunday 6/15/14

Sunday, June 15 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Less than three hours until Monday, June 16th, 2014. #CRC2014 is here and the excitement is palpable. Here are the highlights from the day…

  1. This morning, we had an early wake-up to finalize cabin and camp prep, and things are looking really nice around here. I know I have said this all week, but today was just another example of how truly amazing this group of staff is. We are LUCKY to have this crew and are looking forward to a summer of greatness!

  2. By noon, the staff was officially off duty, and this was well-deserved! Movies were seen, Walmart was shopped, the Minocqua streets were roamed and lots of food was eaten! We are firm believers in the necessity of staff time-off because we feel it helps our counselors to be even better youth development experts when they are here at camp. We encourage them to spend time off-camp with their friends- relaxing and enjoying all that the Northwoods has to offer.

  1. This evening, we began staff lice checks. Three representatives from the Lice Detectives arrived this afternoon, and as staff have been getting back to camp, they have been getting wet checks. Over the past three summers, we have loved working with the Lice Detectives and have found that their methods have really helped us keep control of any lice cases we have.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a beautiful day up here- 80 degrees and sunny! Mother Nature knows that the Chippies will be here and that we are looking for a perfect first day to kick off the best summer ever.

Have a great evening and we will see so many of you tomorrow!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
