The Sari Diaries- Monday 6/9/14

Monday, June 09 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

It was a very exciting day at CRC and here are some of the highlights…

  1. The day began with some excellent camp-prep work which included getting the Top of The Hill looking beautiful. We did a lot of gardening, and I would say it looks quite lovely. Additionally, the first year staff did a photo scavenger hunt, and had a very fun time taking great pictures and learning where everything is around camp.

  2. At about 3:30pm, we had three vans full of returning staff arrive. The energy was palpable as the CITs, JCs and some SCs piled out of the vans and onto camp grounds for the first time in over ten months. There were lots of hugs, some cheering and tons of huge smiles. Everyone was excited to check out the progress on Timber Walk & the Stables and they were all very impressed with how great camp already looks.

  1. Once everyone was here, we got right into playing a couple of games including a huge all-staff trampball tournament won by JJ Quicker! We have some real talent on this staff in terms of trampball (along with many other talents), and even those who didn’t have so much skill enjoyed the game and, more importantly, the company.

  2. We had a delicious and very spirited dinner which ended in Jen’s famous S’mores Bars. They were better than ever and the entire dinner was excellent. Everyone was raving about the salad bar, the lasagna was delicious, and “A Chippewa Girl” was sang extremely loud!

  1. After dinner, we all gathered at the Center Fire Circle and broke up into groups to play the photo game Around The World. Everybody went around camp with their groups and took many creative pictures with props. It was a ton of fun and we got over 100 excellent pictures of the staff doing crazy things!

  2. The evening concluded with some productivity and lots of fun in the office. The Ten Year Girls worked on naming the vans for the summer, we ate lots of pizza and caught up with old and new friends. At this point, everyone is in bed and looking forward to many good activities and some great training tomorrow!

I think that’s all for now- it officially feels like #CRC2014 is upon us, and we are thrilled to be in the midst of the official pre-camp week! Thanks for reading- have a great night!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
