The Sari Diaries- Friday 7/22/16

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

I write to you this evening after a day of amazingness at #TheRanch2016! It has been a good one filled with fun shenanigans both indoors and outdoors. If you read below, you will get a glimpse into all of our fun…enjoy!

It was a hot one today but this morning we had regular activities, which were lots of fun. At skiing, Jules L got up on the boom bar and Cayla B got around the lake on two for the first time! The White Caps have been working hard in swimming and Dori announced how proud she was of them at lunch. Spirit was high and sweat was dripping all morning long and into lunch. And then we had afternoon announcements…

Due to the heat, we decided we all needed some air conditioning. We announced that we were doing an all camp movie! We loaded the buses and headed to the Lakeland Theater to watch Ice Age and The Secret Life of Pets. It was pretty funny to invade the entire theater- campers got movie snacks and were so excited to have an afternoon of hanging in the cool theater.

There are lots of visitors here this weekend but I want to give a special shout-out to my sister, Rachel. I am so happy she is here to hangout for the next couple of days. She got up on one ski today in between second period and lunch and I was very proud. As I sat on the boat cheering her on, I was reminded of the good times we spent here at CRC together for eight summers!

Tonight’s campfire theme was Activism. It was a powerful theme that is pertinent to campers’ lives both in and out of camp. Emily C led the campfire and did a really nice job. Sydney K got up to talk about a charity that she started called Sydney’s Stuffing which is a non-for-profit that makes pillows for homeless children and teens. She told the camp about why she started this organization and a little bit about it…it was very cool! Amy Berger gave the sermonette in which she encouraged our campers to find a cause that they are passionate about and act on it. At the end, Cliff pointed out that activism is not only done on a large scale. Within our own camp community, there are plenty of causes to get behind. Overall, the evening was really special and I think our campers took a lot away from the program.

That’s about all for now but I hope you enjoyed tonight’s post. Talk to you all very soon!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
