We hope that this newsletter is finding you and your families well. We are very excited about this first edition of The Chippewa Legend and hope that you have a good time reading it. A big thank you to everyone who responded by telling us what is going on in your lives. It is pretty amazing how often people still connect with Chippewa even if they haven’t been to camp in many years. In this edition, you will find a number of different articles related to alumni from many different generations. Hopefully you will learn things about old friends and find the newsletter to be interesting.
First though, we’d like to give you a bit of recent history about Chippewa- where it is today and who is helping to keep up the traditions that all of you have known…Cliff and Lisa purchased the camp from Thomas C and Pamela Adler and had their first summer as owners in 2006. This summer, Cliff and Lisa brought a fabulous new member to the Chippewa family- their daughter Audry. It is safe to say that she was the cutest and most popular Chippy at camp this summer (see picture above). Additionally, this year, Cliff and Lisa hired Sari Hirsch to be a year-round staff member, taking the position of Assistant Director into the winter season as well. Sari has spent seventeen summers at Chippewa and is loving working for camp during the year!
Since Cliff and Lisa became the owners/directors of Chippewa, there have been some physical changes to camp including refinishing most of the bathrooms, logging some of the cabins and updating the website. There have also been a couple of great program additions. Overall though, the program is still the same and the same traditions that you remember are still alive and well…Tan and White twice a week, UN Day, Friday Night Campfires, cheering in the messhall, and many other Chippewa rituals are happening each and every day at camp, keeping the campers quite happy!
We thank you for reading this first edition of The Chippewa Legend…sit back, relax and enjoy!
