The Sari Diaries- Wednesday 8/1/18

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Can anyone slow down time? Please? I am surrounded by about 200 campers and 115 staff who would all greatly appreciate some help with this. We had another wonderful day at CRC filled with thousands of little moments that individually were incredible and added together make this a truly magical day. Read below to learn about just a bit of the magic…

I spent first period at the High Ropes Course. I was joined by a number of awesome staff members along with six campers who I was super-impressed with. Forty feet high, I had the opportunity to hang out with Lily A, Danielle M, Braelyn S, Jaliyah A, Sophie B and Dynasty G, and it was awesome. My favorite part was watching as the girls cheered each other on and gave words of encouragement. Some of the campers were more hesitant than others but it genuinely felt like a team effort up there. The counselors were amazing and it was awesome to see campers overcoming their fears and conquering the awesome challenge of the obstacle course all the way in the air!

Both lunch and dinner today were incredibly cute meals. You might be wondering what that means but I think I can explain it pretty well. For starters, the vibe in the lodge for each of these meals was so fun. There was a certain care-free energy among the entire camp that just felt good. Campers were on their counselors’ laps, cabins were on chairs cheering and every single individual was engaged in conversation with someone nearby. I hung out with a bunch of different cabins and campers. At lunch I sat with both the Lucky-X and Circle C tables. Then at dinner, Soph-Aloaf and I hung out with an eclectic (age and cabin-wise) group. We had Audry L, Annabelle K, Gracie G, Lily A, Grace F, Turner and Josh all at our table. We enjoyed BBQ together and had some excellent conversation!

And tonight we hosted Camp Timberlane. They watched #TheRanch2018 performance of The Wizard of Oz and hung out in the new building for a social. I must say that The Wizard of Oz was spectacular. Chippewa has put on a ton of great musicals but tonight’s show really stood out to me. It was upbeat and the talent on display was outstanding. A huge congratulations to the entire cast along with the staff who directed the play and made it such a success!

That’s all from me tonight. Today was another day that I felt proud to be a part of this community. We are truly lucky to spend our summers with such a loving, encouraging and fun collection of people! Okay, talk to you all soon :).

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
