The Sari Diaries- Wednesday 7/8/15

Tuesday, July 07 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

What a fun and action packed day we had here at CRC! From start to finish it was a ton of fun and as campers head back to their cabins after an awesome late night program, we are already looking forward to tomorrow! Here are the details from today…

  1. It was a wonderful day of regular activities that included many camper accomplishments. In cooking, they baked pies (which were eaten during snack time), at tennis, they focused on serves and at dance, they worked towards final preparations for the show next week. One camper at the ropes course climbed up the stairway to heaven backwards with her eyes closed. I had the opportunity to waterski today which was amazing. It isn’t too often that this occurs but it was lots of fun and I am so appreciative of the staff who took me out!

  1. Each night, we try to keep the evening programs a surprise. Sometimes though, campers have a way of finding out the upcoming events and tonight was one of those nights. We had an Ojibwa social scheduled but in order to throw everyone off, we had Tan & White cheers at lunch and the Neutrals announced that it was Skit Night. There were many people (campers & staff) who were convinced the plans had changed but after 5th period, we announced that the Ojibwa social was still on. There was lots of excitement once that news became official and the social was fantastic. Monster Entertainment was there to DJ and we saw lots of cute reunions among siblings, family members and friends.

  1. When we got back to camp, all Tans and Whites went straight back to their cabins to get decked in black for Stalk the Lantern. Stalk the Lantern is a game that we borrowed from another camp back in 2000. It must be played in the dark and is a Chippewa favorite. The entire South Field is turned into a bullseye with chairs. Staff members sit in the chairs and each ring is worth a different amount of points. Campers hide around the field and do their best to get to the center of the circle without being caught by those sitting in the center (who have flashlights). There are a number of different strategies for this game- some campers run to the middle while others slither their way in using staff members to hide themselves. It was a wonderful night and while both teams were sneaky, the Whites came out victorious!

So that was our day here at #TheRanch2015. It was a day full of happy camp moments and positivity and we are looking forward to another one tomorrow! Have a great night- thanks for reading!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
