The Sari Diaries- Wednesday 7/29/15

Tuesday, July 28 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

I am writing tonight full of energy and delight as today was an outstanding one at #TheRanch2015. The entire camp was energized and we celebrated just because it was an awesome day at camp! Here are the highlights from our wonderful day…

  1. I need to first call out the cabin of Lucky-X because their spirit at lunch was amazing. They were singing every song in the book, all standing at their table with huge smiles on their faces. The counselors were right there with them and honestly looked like they were having just as much fun as the campers. The Adler Lodge is always a loud place full of screaming/singing Chippies, but for some reason today was off the charts in Chippy madness.

  1. The advanced riding class practiced jumps today. They have been working incredibly hard to get to this point and each of them were really excited to work on this skill. Kahley was raving about what a good group the second period riders are and she is loving watching them grow as riders each day!

  1. The Senior Tennis Team went to Red Pine this afternoon for a match and it was intense! There were members of both the JV and Varsity teams that played and we won six of the eight matches. According to George, “It was incredible and I am so proud!” I have had the opportunity to hit with all of these girls and they have each immensely improved their game throughout the summer. It was a fun afternoon for all and we are quite proud of the team!

  1. Since 1983 (the year I was born), Tom Pease has been performing at Chippewa and is without a doubt one of the most popular Chippy celebrities. Tonight he sang “Pancakes,” “Dad Threw the TV Out the Window,” “Belly Button,” among many other favorites. Some of these songs have been sung around the Center Fire Circle every summer I have been at camp and while the faces have changed, the pure joy and excitement among the Chippies singing have not. Tom commented afterward that this was the best audience performance in four to five years and I’m pretty certain that he is correct…from first year campers through Ten Year Girls, we were all ecstatic to be dancing and singing to some fabulous live tunes.

Now I am sitting in the office with Lucy, Jenna, Fradin and Monica…they are a good crew who I love hanging out with. We are all looking forward to tomorrow because it’s Camper Counselor Day. I get to be Alexa R for the day and it should be a blast! Okay, that’s all for now- thanks for reading. Have a great night!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
