The Sari Diaries- Wednesday 7/19/17

Tuesday, July 18 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

I don’t want to jinx it here, but it was another amazingly beautiful day at 8258 County O! And believe me, we took advantage of every moment…from morning until night, we had a blast! Here are the details…

Lakeview left for their camping trip on Tuesday and they come back tomorrow. They are in Madeline Island and have really enjoyed spending some quality time together while doing yoga, hiking and camping. They are loving it but we are excited to get them back here at #TheRanch2017 tomorrow!

Back at camp, regular activities were in full swing. At cooking, they made this amazing strawberry wonton, and at climbing, Mari W climbed two of the sides of the wall blindfolded! I gave two tours to prospective campers and was amazed as I walked them through camp. I do believe that when anyone walks onto the CRC grounds, they get a certain feeling. One of those feelings that is difficult to explain except to say that it is a feeling of happiness and comfort…one that it is obvious that we are a supportive, kind and fun community. Aside from the feeling, and of course the facilities, I think that new families coming to look at Chippewa are always most impressed with our campers. They are incredibly friendly and truly want to show off their camp. The way they talk to the potential camper and try to bring her into the fold of camp is just so cute. They are proud of Chippewa and are eager to share that with these families. At riding, Grace F brought one of the tours into the barn and began giving a mini riding lesson. I just loved it!

I also had the opportunity to play basketball with Soph-Aloaf, Reese S, Chloe C and Violet S. It was somewhat impromptu and just so much fun. I was definitely tired at the end of the intense game, but wouldn’t have wanted to spend my half hour in any other way. I guess that’s two days in a row of basketball for me…we shall see if the streak continues!

Then tonight, we tried something a bit different for our evening program…we split up Colt (younger) and Wrangler (older) Villages. The Colt Villagers had a great time at Beat the Staff while the Wrangler Villagers took a trip to see the Minocqua Bats Ski Show. Both groups really enjoyed the programs and liked the format of having a smaller group activity. I joined the Wrangler Villagers at the Minocqua Bats and was quite entertained by both the show and all the Chippies I was sitting with!

After the evening program, Soph-Aloaf and I took the CITs on their night out. We had an amazing time with them. We split them into four teams, had them dress in costume and created a series of events in which the teams competed. They could not have been more fun…they dove right into the silliness of the night and were awesome. This group has worked incredibly hard this summer and we were excited to show our appreciation by planning a night of hopefully long-lasting memories for them!

And that’s it from us for today. Fingers crossed that this weather continues! Thanks for reading…have a good night!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
