The Sari Diaries- Tuesday 7/19/16

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Good evening folks! I hope you all had a wonderful day…it was a stupendous one on Dam Lake :). I have some good details to share with you all; so here it goes…

This morning, Lakeview headed off on their camping trip to Madeline Island. They were all very excited- they are looking forward to yoga on the beach and a little rest and relaxation before returning to camp to get to working on Chippy Awards!

At first period tennis this morning, we had the chance to play singles because there were only six of us (the rest of the team is in LV). It was an amazing workout and I had the chance to hit with both Hayley C and Ruby W…they are awesome players! First period is always a highlight of my day and today I was reminded of just how much fun we have. Maz and Annie work very hard to plan and implement amazing classes for us and everyone is sweating but happy by the end!

Waterfront Director Fradin stopped by my office after fourth period to let me know how awesome the Red Caps were today. They work with both Fradin and Ashley (swim director) and today they worked on their flutter kick using noodles. The girls had a blast and were showing off their new skills to the other campers on the lake. Ashley and Fradin were super-impressed with both their enthusiasm and desire to improve…it is pretty cool!

I also got a visit from Hannah Simon after fourth period. She was taking pictures on the ski boat and told me how cute the scene was on the lake. Callam was driving the boat, Rachel Rappaport was lifeguarding and Bella K, Abigail W & Mari W were taking turns skiing. On their way back to the docks, Callam was singing along to “It’s a Beautiful Day” and the girls had smiles plastered across their faces as they danced (while sitting of course).

In cooking, they made amazing candy sugar cookies that had jelly beans in them! Samantha G told me after first period that they were so good and I had to try one. Obviously I did and she was correct- I was not disappointed! As I write you from the office, there are four different staff members in here coming back for seconds and thirds. The cookies today were definitely a hit!

At dinner this evening, Leah Berns lost an “Odds Are” and had a pitcher filled with lemonade, hot sauce, rice, salt, pepper, ketchup, soy sauce, syrup and water poured on her head. I have some good video footage of the scene and it was hilarious! Leah is always a good sport and there were many people entertained tonight!

The evening program was Pirate Night! It was a crazy night filled with the typical pirate shenanigans and also some new excitement. To start with, the pirates attacked from the water…last session they came by boat but this time they emerged from the swim area running towards the campers. Another new element was that in addition to the buried treasure and colored flags, cabins were also on the hunt for a rainbow flag which was worth 500 points. Silverspurs found it and they were so hyped! After searching high and low, following clues to find the buried treasure and collecting flags all over camp, Circle C ended up finding the bag of Rolos (the treasure). Once it was found, we all went to the Center Fire Circle to have the flags counted and points added up. While there, Jolie W told me that she got up on waterskis for the first time today! Then it was time…Lillie Yalowitz, Melissa Spero and Kahley Czupek had organized the incredible evening and were ready to announce the winners…it was a total surprise but Lucky-X won!! The night ended with the pirates “walking the plank” and jumping into the lake. Campers cheered and chanted…it was a good night for all!

So that was our day here at #TheRanch2016. Campers are happy and second session is off to a great start. We are looking forward to another lovely day around here tomorrow. Thanks for reading!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
