The Sari Diaries- Tuesday 7/10/18

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

It has been a long but wonderful day at CRC! I apologize for what is likely to be a shorter version of TSD but after a late evening program and an awesome day planned for tomorrow, I want to make sure that I get a couple hours of rest ;).

All day long, we enjoyed incredible weather which helped us have another successful day of regular activities. Sasha L got up and around the lake on two skis, and her entire cabin was elated for her when this accomplishment was announced in the mess hall at lunch. At pottery, they are creating monsters which are turning out so cool. Campers are very excited to show off their creations this coming weekend!

This afternoon, some of our campers headed to Agawak to compete in basketball, tennis and soccer. A couple others went to Menominee for a golf lesson. Both groups came back very excited. Those who went to Agawak loved seeing their friends and the golfers at Menominee were so appreciative of Jason, Tom and Steve for providing them with this opportunity!

The best part of the day had to be the first evening program- Cabin Lip Sync! Sophie, Kato, Rahul, Jack R (Dr. Rosen’s son) and myself were the judges, and we were all quite impressed with the creativity, costumes and dance moves on display tonight. This program was just another reminder about what a special community #TheRanch2018 is. There were campers up on stage who thought they would never be up there because they don’t dance or act at home, and then there were others who have always been comfortable on the stage, and then there are others who fall somewhere in between. The beauty though is that no matter which category each camper fits into, everybody lets down their guard and lets loose on stage. The smiles that were present in the theater tonight were big, and more importantly, they were genuine. Cabins were so proud of the work they put in and they were having a blast showing off their talents…some talents that they have just realized they possess. It is a beautiful thing to watch! While we loved each performance, the big winners tonight were Timberwalk and A-Frame!

And then came the second evening program- Tan and White Stalk the Lantern. This is a game that we play in the dark…the Neutrals sit in the middle of the South Field with the staff sitting in a bullseye around them. Campers try to sneak to the middle of the circle without being caught by a Neutral with a flashlight. There are many different strategies and it is always cool to see who gets 100 points. Laney K, Anna S, Olivia G, Alli J, Lindsay B and Rachel L all got to the center! The Whites came out victorious but I am confident that both the Tans and Whites loved participating in this one!
