The Sari Diaries- Thursday 7/6/17

Wednesday, July 05 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

I hate to disappoint you but it’s Sari instead of Soph-Aloaf tonight…sorry guys! In good news, we had a lovely day around here and I am excited to share with you some of the good times had by our campers and staff. I hope you enjoy!

This morning, the sailing team ventured to Camp Kawaga for their annual regatta. They were very excited to compete against the four other camps in this sailing race. They had a blast and ended up in fourth place (fourth is better than fifth ;)).

At riding today, campers went on a trail ride, and loved it. In waterskiing, Sari S had the biggest smile on her face as she got up on two skis for the first time for a few seconds. Also in waterskiing, Skylar S got up and around on one and Jane C dropped and crossed. All of their friends were cheering them on from the boat! Then, in paddle boarding, Bella B announced, “Finally, I’ve been waiting for SUP all day!” All around camp great things were happening!

After lunch, we gathered around the Center Fire Circle for a Compass Coin Ceremony. Noa F shared a speech on leadership and coins were awarded to Avery R, Kate S, Emery S, Julia F, Genna W, Jess O’Brien, Edgar Palacios and Katie Winstone. Both Cliff and Lisa presented these coins for perseverance, determination, loyalty and being a catalyst…it was nice, and all coins were very well-deserved. It is so cool how the Chippewa Compass program is progressing. Campers are acknowledging each other for positive interactions by leaving notes for Lisa in a box outside of her office…it is awesome how they can recognize each other’s strengths and good deeds!

Tonight we headed to Timberlane for a social. They always put on a great program for us and tonight was no exception. There was a bit of rain that made us go inside for snacks but we still had a blast! The Chippy girls were excited to see their friends, brothers and cousins who go to Timberlane…there was lots of dancing, mingling and eating!

So that’s the story here at #TheRanch2017! We are looking forward to another fantastic day tomorrow full of accomplishments and fun. I would like to file one complaint though before turning in…the summer is flying by way too fast, and I would like to find a way to slow things down! Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks for reading tonight…talk to you soon!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
