Dearest Chippies,

Happy Thursday from the North Woods! I hope you all have had a nice week. It has—not surprisingly—been another incredible few days here at CRC. Second session is officially in full-swing and campers are strengthening new friendships, passing levels in activities and laughing a LOT. All in all, no complaints coming from this gal.

Earlier today as I sat in Circle C getting my nails re-painted for the 4th time in the span of an hour, laughing with kids less than half my age, I couldn’t help but think about what exactly it is that makes this place so special. I always find that I have a hard time explaining to my friends and family the magic that defines the Chippewa experience. It’s so obvious and tangible to anyone who has been a part of it, yet so hard to put into words. My Sari Diaries posts never do it justice, but bottom line, this place is seriously as good as it gets… You’ll just have to take my word on that!

Now on to the important stuff…

Tons of exciting things were happening around camp today. Campers glazed their clay bugs in pottery, made brownie cookies in cooking and Sydney F, Samantha R, Danielle K and Lindsay A all passed levels in skiing! Lakeview returned from their camping trip with raving reviews and campers from Wagon Ridge, Rafter^X and Copper Stripes as well as Boots, Cactus and A-Frame left for the Porkies and a canoe trip, respectively. Reports back from both trips have been filled with lots of positivity and enthusiasm. Camp is not the same without them, but we are thrilled they are loving their tripping experiences!

Tonight’s evening program was Beat the Staff. Cabins competed against staff members in various activities, including a handstand contest, ping-pong and marshmallow catapult competitions. My favorite part of the night was that each cabin was led by members of Lakeview. It was awesome to watch them step up in this leadership role and they all did a great job spreading excitement and energy to the younger campers. Congrats to Timberwalk on winning the most competitions and to Blackfoot for having the best outfits. You guys really stole the show!

And that’s that, friends. Another day to write home about here at #TheRanch2018. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you all again next week!

Sincerely,
Soph Aloaf
