The Sari Diaries- Thursday 7/16/15

Thursday, July 16 by Sari Hirsch

Dearest Chippies,

I come to you this fine Thursday evening overwhelmed with emotion. Happiness, obviously. That’s a given. And gratitude for the memories I’ve made thus far at #TheRanch2015. Also excitement for the fast approaching start of second session. But mostly confusion. Confusion as to where the past four weeks have gone. Confusion as to how I can get them back. And confusion as to why I STILL don’t have the means to make that happen… But I’m sure you’re all sick of this particular topic of conversation, and since I want you to continue reading I’ll leave that tangent for another post.

As far as Thursday’s go, today was an exciting one. This morning we had a run-through of the Parent’s Day Show. Let me be the first to tell you that if you’re one of the lucky folks stepping onto Chippewa soil tomorrow evening at 7:01 PM, you are in for a treat. The dances are cute, the dancers are cuter, and everyone is already bubbling with excitement, eager to show off all of their Chippy moves. If you’re not coming, I suggest you find a videographer stat. This is sure to be a show you won’t want to miss.

Tonight we had First Session Banquet. It was a celebration to remember, shock full of floor-length gowns, fancy table decorations, and staff commissaries (the real mark of an “upscale” CRC event). The festivities included a gourmet meal of gnocchi and pink sauce, accompanied by a campy playlist and good times had by all. Following dinner, we had an awards ceremony, during which four week campers received awards for activity achievements. It is always cute to see the proud smiles that spread the faces of kids as they accept their awards. My hands may be sore from clapping and my voice hoarse from cheering, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

As my first session Sari Diaries stint comes to a close, I hope I haven’t bored you too much and I want to thank you all for humoring me week in and week out. Sari just informed me that my trial run as a guest blogger was a wild success, so lucky for you all, I’m here to stay. It’s been a fun ride thus far, and I look forward to sharing the next four Thursdays with you.

Sincerely,
Soph-Aloaf
