The Sari Diaries- Thursday 6/12/14

Thursday, June 12 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

I write to you this evening after a wonderful day of pre-camp. It is amazing how quickly this week is flying by…before we know it, Monday will be upon us and #CRC2014 will be in full force! Here are today’s highlights…

  1. We had two fabulous speakers work with us today- Tina Bryson & Michael Thompson. They are two incredibly knowledgeable professionals in the camping world, and they presented excellent techniques for our staff when working with our campers. We truly enjoyed having them and know that their approach to youth development is sure to help us create an even more caring, accepting and safe environment for all of the Chippies.

  2. While the Admin Team worked with Tina and Michael in a smaller group, the rest of the staff broke up into teams to practice for the Pre-Camp Lip Sync which is Saturday. Everyone is super excited for the show and each team is putting in a great deal of effort to make their lip sync the big winner!

  3. In other exciting news, part of our afternoon was dedicated to Tan & White. One of this summer’s neutrals, Alexa Polinsky, explained the important tradition and announced the teams. From there, the staff split up, learned/practiced cheers, and got amped up for the summer-long competition!

  1. The evening ended with our annual Fellowship, which is a staff party to thank this awesome group for all of their hard work. There was a ton of good food and even more dancing. “Friends in Low Places” is a yearly tradition, and this staff loved singing and dancing in a circle to the song. It is always good to get the whole staff together off camp grounds to bond, and tonight was no exception.

I think that’s about all for now. We are all ready for a good night of sleep and are looking forward to a fantastic day tomorrow!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
