The Sari Diaries- Sunday 7/22/18

Saturday, July 21 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

We are officially a week into second session and I think it is safe to say that the bonding, friendships and fun that campers and staff are experiencing at #TheRanch2018 is unparalleled…I mean to anywhere else on Earth…things are just that good! Sundays are always a welcomed break from our typical routine at camp, and while we love the structure of Mondays through Saturdays, cabin days definitely bring something special. And now, I will tell you what that something special entailed today…

This morning, before ODs were even called, the line for breakfast was pretty significant. Many new campers have heard the hype about our Sunday morning breakfast, and they wanted to be among the first campers to experience it. Pancakes were, per usual, the most popular item but the omelets and scrambles were in pretty high demand as well. The reviews were good – I would say above average – and campers are already talking about what they plan to order next week.

After breakfast, we loaded the buses to head into Minocqua. Once each session we invade the three or four blocks of Minocqua to do a little bit of shopping and lots of eating. Some cabins picked up food and ate it at the beach, and others had a nice sit-down meal. Lots of fudge was eaten and Monkey Business & Toyland had a good day selling clothes and toys to Chippies. Overall, we had a successful couple of hours in Minocqua…but I think that’s enough of the “real world” for us…back to CRC for awhile!

This afternoon, cabins worked on lip sync while the Tan & White Chief and Grand Sachems met with Cliff to make some big decisions for Realm. Realm is one of our biggest Tan & White games of the summer and it all begins tomorrow night…excitement is in the air! Campers are eager to learn what their roles will be and how Realm 3.0 Knight Owl will play out.

And then this evening we had Big and Little Sister night. The CITs have been working very hard to plan an awesome program for all of the big and little sister duos. The night began with a big and little sister pizza dinner. It was very cute to see some of the oldest campers hanging with the little ones eating dinner and excitedly asking questions about their lives and their camp experiences. For the program itself, big and little sisters dressed up together in all sorts of costumes, and competed in goofy games such as ice bowling, an ice cream eating contest, egg toss and a handshake contest. The finale of the night was a quiz show in the theater with the top teams from each competition as the participants. Ali C and Emma E ended up the big winners and got to go to Cathy’s with the CITs. Overall, it was an awesome night and I was very impressed with the CITs planning, organization and implementation!

So that was our day- it was another amazing one and I find myself, once again, feeling so appreciative to be spending my summer here with the incredible people who have chosen to call CRC home! Thanks for reading tonight- talk to you soon.

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
