The Sari Diaries- Sunday 7/2/17

Saturday, July 01 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

I cannot believe the second week of the summer has already come to an end…time is flying around here! We did have another beautiful day in Northwoods- two consecutive days of good weather is something to celebrate! As for the specifics, read below…

After our amazing Sunday morning breakfast, the first sessioners from Bowed Legs and C-C headed to Copper Falls for their camping trip. So far, reports are good…they are having a great time and really enjoyed their beautiful hike. The other half of Timberwalk and Horseshoe (who didn’t go on the trip earlier in the week) left for their trip today as well. They were excited for the tents, canoeing and especially for the cinnamon rolls that they are making for breakfast tomorrow morning :). We are excited for both of these groups in addition to the CITs to return tomorrow to make #TheRanch2017 whole again!

This afternoon, the Colt Village headed to the Lumberjack Show in Woodruff. They had a good time watching many lumberjack events. Sabrina S got up in front of the entire crowd to perform her loudest and longest “Yo-Ho!” The Chippy girls cheered her on, and were very excited to tell us all about it! Meanwhile, back at camp, Wrangler Villagers had a cake decorating competition and played a Chippewa version of Family Feud. A good time was had by all on this Cabin Day!

Tonight was G.L.O.W.- the Chippewa wrestling competition. There were a number of very intense battles, which cabins placed bets on (with Chippewa money, of course). There was a match-up between mosquitos & ticks, Michigan & Wisconsin, Trailriders & Lakeview counselors and many more. Lakeview campers each participated with a different cabin to help them decide who they would place their bet on. The energy was extremely high the entire night and the music was on-point. A special shout-out to Ali Eland and Erin Elliot for planning this awesome night. Also, a big thank you to Audree Goone & Aliza Kipnis for being fantastic referees. And finally, to Lillie Yalowitz, for her great music selections.

One last thing- I want to give the campers of Lakeview an early note of appreciation. With 4th of July in just a few days, they have done an incredible job of staying on top of their planning responsibilities while also playing a big role in the Chippewa program. Tonight was a perfect example of the positivity that they can provide to any program…their spirit and excitement towards participating in G.L.O.W. with each of their cabins was wonderful. We cannot wait for Tuesday, and know that all of their hard work will pay off!

Okay, that’s all for us tonight. Week two was outstanding and we are looking forward to beginning our second set of activities tomorrow. Thanks for reading!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
