The Sari Diaries- Sunday 7/12/15

Saturday, July 11 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Sadly, our final Cabin Day of first session has come and gone. In good news, it was an awesome day that was enjoyed by all. Not much can beat our amazing Sunday morning breakfast, cabin activities, an all camp program, UN Day practice, Egg Marathon Sign-Ups, pizza for dinner and Tan & White Skit Night.

  1. This morning, after our intense cabin clean-up, we played the Bee-Hive Game. This game was created about five years ago by Samara Orkin and is a great way for campers across different age groups to bond. Essentially, the entire camp is broken up into ten teams. They are assigned a color and as a group, walk around camp to participate in different activities. Some of those include Chippy Trivia, freeze pop relay and tent building. Each group is timed and depending on their time, they earn “honey-comb” which are like tickets. The team with the most tickets at the end of the game wins. It was great to see Blackfoot through Lakeview campers running around camp together working as a team!

  1. Counselors prepared a ton of fun activities for their campers this afternoon. C-C held their second annual Gummy Games which was once again a success. I watched their very serious teatherball tournament from which cheers were heard across camp. Bowed Legs held a Riff Off which is a singing competition that they learned from the movie “Pitch Perfect.” Lakeview went tubing, some cabins had scavenger hunts, others were in the water and still others were playing water games in the North and South Fields. Anywhere you went this afternoon, you could find Chippies in action and having fun.

  1. Before the evening program began, I walked over to the the basketball courts to fill up my water bottle. There were about thirty minutes in between dinner and everyone heading to the theater and my heart filled with happiness when I saw two girls playing tennis, two shooting around on the basketball courts and two others hitting against the backboard. I love how even during their free time, campers at #TheRanch2015 are able to stay active!

  2. Tonight was Tan & White Skit night which is one of my personal favorites. The Braves made up a very cute commercial, the Hunters created a cheer, the Warriors sang a song and the Chiefs performed a skit. The skits are always the best part of the night as the Chiefs manage to make us all laugh! Tonight, all performances were excellent but the Whites were the big winners!

We are crossing our fingers for good weather tomorrow as it is United Nations Day. The forecast doesn’t look great but we are hoping that we miraculously wake up to a dry and sunny day. I will, of course, keep you posted on how that goes :). Thanks for reading and have a wonderful evening.

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
