The Sari Diaries- Sunday 6/8/14

Sunday, June 08 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

I hope you had a nice Sunday! Here are today’s highlights…

  1. It was a big day for staff arrivals! A crew of new staff came in LATE last night, and today we enjoyed getting to know them and teaching them a bit about life at CRC. Additionally, Gracie Hoffman, a first year JC, came in this afternoon. She is back at camp after taking a summer off and we are super excited to have her on staff this summer. The last arrival of the day was Nurse Christina. She is already settled in and anxious to get started in the Health Center tomorrow.

  2. Duncan Kell, our Waterfront Director, trained Suzy Topel on the ski boats today. He claims that she is a natural and we are not surprised. She pulled Ana Paula Enriquez (a beginner skier) and Ryan Page (an advanced skier), all while Sam Shepherd lifeguarded on her boat. It was impressive to watch them all in action, and we are confident that Suzy is going to be an incredible boat driver this summer.

  1. Tonight’s evening program was a viewing of the 2013 Reunion Video. It brought back lots of memories, introduced the new staff to the craziness that is a summer at Chippewa, and got everyone looking forward to #CRC2014. After the video, we all moved to the Center Fire Circle for some hanging out and s’mores eating…yum!

  1. In other news, my age group, Lakeview ‘98, had a mini-reunion in Highland Park. They had a BBQ with ten members of our age group along with many of their young future Chippies :). While I was a bit jealous that I couldn’t attend, it truly makes me so happy that we are still so incredibly close sixteen years later. It speaks volumes to the friendships that are formed at camp…as we all know, camp friends are the best friends.

  2. Today’s Weather Update: It was another sunny and beautiful day up here. No rain, not too hot, not too cold…really just a perfect day!

Okay, thanks for reading- check back tomorrow for more exhilarating news on the camp-front!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
