The Sari Diaries- Saturday 6/24/17

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

It was a beautiful day in the Northwoods! And when I say that, please note that it rained on and off for most of the day. But that’s what I love about this place- regardless of the weather, beauty is constantly radiating. I have a ton of anecdotes to share about the day which I will do, but in summary, we had a day full mostly of regular activities followed by an awesome bbq, a fun Menominee social and a great deal of cabin bonding before bed. Now for the details…

This morning, because of the rain, the swimmers didn’t go in the water. Instead, Emily C led a WERQ class both first and second periods. Campers were super into the aerobics/dance class and Emily did an amazing job of keeping campers engaged and active. At other activities around camp, campers worked through the drizzle. Skiers still skied, the cooking classes still baked and the riding classes were quite productive at the stables. At sailing, Sami K volunteered to skip her free period to go sailing with some beginner sailors, which was incredibly kind. All over camp, good things were happening and everyone was having a blast!

At tonight’s bbq, I had the honor of sitting with Lyla N, Talia N, Roxie R, Bella B, Elle F, Lucy W, Audry L and Vivien L. It was a great crew and there was some very good conversation going on…I definitely chose the right table to hang with. After dinner, I came to the office to find Sarah D, Julia E, Rebecca R and Taylor G wanting to have an important meeting. I soon remembered that these were two sets of big/little sisters. I was informed that they believed we needed another Big and Little Sister Night this session. That they had SO much fun at the first one that one just wasn’t enough. It was pretty cute that not only the little sisters but also the big sisters were so into it. I just loved the request!

This evening we had the Menominee boys over for a social- the first of the summer. There was music, baggo, jenga and lots and lots of food! Fried Oreos were enjoyed by campers from both camps and there was a lot of dancing going on. It was nice to see siblings reunited and friends hanging out. It was a great night and the Menominee boys were a lot of fun! A quick shout-out to Sophie Stempel and Spencer Berlin for taking the lead throughout the night to ensure a smooth set-up, clean-up and implementation of a fantastic social. Thanks guys!

And then I roamed cabins this evening. I enjoyed spending time in Cactus, A-Frame, Horseshoe and Bowed Legs. In Horseshoe, there were a bunch of campers writing a song. Mackenzie P sang it for me and I must say, I was impressed! Before coming to the office, I got to witness Bowed Legs hanging out in a circle- campers and counselors just enjoying each other’s company. It was so campy…there wasn’t a specific activity going on- they were just hanging and loving being together.

That’s about all for tonight. It was a day full of small moments that were special on their own and even more so when packed into one day. It is safe to say that it was another extremely successful day at #TheRanch2017. Okay, thanks for reading!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
