The Sari Diaries- Monday 7/7/14

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

UN Day 2014 has come and gone, and it was an incredible day! It is one of the most popular days of camp with lots of intensity and a ton of healthy competition. Here are the highlights…

  1. The day opened with the torch ceremony in which all of the team captains brought the torch from the back gate to the Center Fire Circle where the whole camp was waiting and cheering for them. This ceremony is such a cool way to begin this awesome day- it is a great display of the four teams working together. From there, we all headed to the North Field for some leg wrestling. This was fantastic and we definitely have some extreme talent around here!

  1. Throughout the day, there were lots of activities going on. Everything from word search to football and from banner making to soccer, this camp was hopping. We had tug of war and running relays after lunch and log rolling, swim relays and a blob contest before dinner. A major milestone was Sarah S setting a new record on the log. The previous record was staying on for one minute and thirty seconds, but this afternoon, she stayed on for over five minutes! The entire camp stared in amazement as she kept her balance for an insane amount of time.

  1. The day ended with a staff volleyball game before the winners were announced. The counselors love this day and do an awesome job of keeping spirits high while cheering and reffing at every single activity…it is always nice to have the day culminate with their participation in a game themselves. The campers love to cheer for their cabin and activity counselors as some skill and some silliness is displayed ;).

  1. Once the official competition was over, we went to the theater to cheer and have the scores announced. Greece was the big winner today, but the points were very very close. The entire team went to Cathy’s and enjoyed a celebratory ice cream.

Overall, this day was fantastic. Suzy Topel and Monica Fishbein did an excellent job planning the day, and we so appreciate all of their hard work. The captains and advisers of each team were fantastic leaders and demonstrated what it means to be a role model in Chippyland.

That’s about all from #CRC2014- another day we feel so lucky to spend our summers on Dam Lake. Thanks for reading tonight!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
