The Sari Diaries- Monday 7/21/14

Monday, July 21 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family Friends,

The heat was definitely on at #CRC2014. We had an entire day of regular activities which everyone enjoyed. Here are the highlights…

  1. This morning, Circle C, Wagon Ridge and Rafter ^ X headed to Bond Falls for their trip. They had an awesome time climbing the waterfall, hanging out at the beach and cooking over the fire. The weather was perfect for this trip and the entire day was an excellent way for this age group to bond.

  2. Today we had three birthdays at camp (a record number!). It is always fun to participate in the morning quiz and today we had an extremely large crowd that came down to wish them a happy birthday. The birthday cakes made by Jen the Baker were delicious and much appreciated!

  1. Tonight, the evening program was Staff Olympics. The staff were divided into two teams- Sponge Bob and Patrick- and they competed in a number of goofy activities including water balloon dodgeball and sack race. Campers cheered on their counselors and bet camp money on who they thought would win. The staff got very into the program, and in turn the campers loved it.

  2. The night ended with our weekly staff meeting. I brag about them often, but tonight, I really feel the need to express how lucky we are to have this group of staff. After a long and hot day, there is no doubt that this crew must be exhausted. Despite that, the conversations that were had demonstrated the extreme dedication and care that the Chippy staff have for this camp and our campers. Talks about helping injured campers stay engaged and how to promote cabin unity were just some of the topics. Overall, it was yet another example of how fantastic this group of counselors truly is.

As you can tell, this was another lovely day around here. Time is definitely flying by, but campers and staff alike are taking full advantage of their time up in the Northwoods! Thanks for reading tonight’s edition of The Sari Diaries. Check back tomorrow for even more exciting news!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
