The Sari Diaries- Monday 6/27/16

Sunday, June 26 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

It has been a lovely but chilly day here at CRC. As I mentioned yesterday, we treated today like it was Sunday and it was awesome. The morning began with our breakfast to order. We served omelettes, scrambles and pancakes…not a small task for 300 people. We had campers waiting outside early to be the first to place their order and they all claimed it was worth the wait. It was delicious and we had people talking about how they prefer Chippy breakfast to Wolfpack…that’s a bold statement!

After breakfast, we got ready to head to Minocqua for TOWN DAY! We invaded the town…in a polite way of course…and our campers and staff were happy to visit their favorite restaurants, stores and candy shops. Campers love town day and it is always fun to see cabin groups hanging around town together.

Once back at camp, counselors had different activities planned for their campers. Rafter^X eagerly swam in the lake despite the cold and they loved every second of it. I was pretty impressed! The campers of C-C were being their crazy yet fun selves…they were traveling around camp as a pack entertained just by being together while simultaneously entertaining those around them. What a crew they are!

Tonight, after Sunday pizza dinner, we had Screen on the Green! Everyone brought their camp chairs, crazy creeks and blankets onto the South Field to get their seats for the big movie night. We served popcorn, canteen and drinks to make it feel like a real movie experience. The blow-up screen was placed on the south end of the field and the entire camp snuggled up to watch “A Cinderella Story.” This is one of CRC’s favorite evening programs and it was the perfect way to end cabin day.

Today was an exciting day for the cabin of Trailriders. This morning they headed off to Mackinac Island for their two night and three day camping trip. Reports from Mackinac are that everyone is having a great time and enjoying their time together. The Mackinac Island trip is a wonderful opportunity for the TR campers to continue to unite into one cabin group. Thus far, these campers have been amazing, and with the help of their counselors are truly already feeling like a bonded group.

And there you have it- it was an incredible day at #TheRanch2016. Fun was had by all and we are looking forward to the beginning of week two tomorrow. Thanks for reading tonight…I hope you enjoyed!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
