The Sari Diaries- Friday 8/7/15

Friday, August 07 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Diary,

I had an amazing day at camp and cannot believe that there is only a week left until I go home. Even though it wasn’t a typical day (because of the rain), I had so much fun. It was raining when we woke up and the sun didn’t come out much. Because of that, I got to spend a lot of time with by cabinmates and counselors.

This morning, after an extended cabin clean-up, we practiced for Lip Sync. Lip Sync is Monday and I think we have a really good chance of winning. My counselors helped us with some of the choreography and some of the girls in my cabin had really good ideas. I am happy that we can practice over the weekend because we want it to look awesome when we take the stage on Monday night.

This afternoon, we had a rainy day program. We got to make a music video to a song of our choice and it was so cool. It was so fun to plan it all out…my counselors were the directors and we all got to be in the video. Once we made our video, we went to the theater for the Chippy Video Music Awards. There was a red carpet in the theater for us to walk down and it was decorated just like the real VMAs :). We got to watch the videos that every cabin made and they were so funny. Some of them were really, really, really good! At the end, each cabin won an award. We won Best Costume Design because we had such good costumes…we worked really hard on them! The afternoon was so fun and even though I was looking forward to some of my activities, it was a good change-up and I loved making the video with my cabin!

Tonight’s campfire was really nice. The theme was “Leaving a Legacy” and it was all about what a special place Chippewa is, and how each of us has the opportunity to leave a legacy at CRC. Some of the older girls are leaving early to try-out for high school sports so some of the Lakeview campers read their final campfire speeches. It got very emotional but all of them reminded the other campers that we need to take advantage of our time at camp. I know it seems like a really long time until I’m in Lakeview but they all say that the time flies by. I feel like I do a good job of making the most of my time at #TheRanch2015…I wake up each day really excited to hang out with my cabin, go to my activities and participate in all of the programs. The Lakeview campers have been such good role models this year and it is so fun when they come visit us in our cabin. Next year, I think they will be really good counselors and I am excited that at least one of them will be my CIT (I wonder who it will be)!

Now I’m pretty tired and I think I might fall asleep while writing this. Tomorrow is Kahuna Day and I am on Grateful Dead. I have my tie-dye shirt ready to go for the morning and I can’t wait. It is going to be so much fun and I have heard that it is one of the best days of camp.

Okay, goodnight!

Love,
Your Happy Camper
