The Sari Diaries- Friday 8/3/18

Thursday, August 02 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Another action packed day has come and gone at #TheRanch2018 and unfortunately it is officially starting to feel like each day that passes means we are too close to the end of this outstanding summer. Throughout today we had a wide variety of happenings- even more than a typical day. And here it is…all of the deets:

One of my favorite days each summer is the Chippewa Regatta and today we enjoyed an excellent sailing race! We were joined by sailors from both Timberlane and Menominee who joined in the awesomeness on Dam Lake! A special shout-out to Emma E and Sabrina S who on short notice, were excited to participate and WON the regatta!

This morning, and for part of the afternoon, we enjoyed regular activities. At some point though, the rain came in. For our rainy day program, we played Tan and White TV Games. The Tans and Whites competed in a special version of name that tune and loved every second of it. The cheering in the theater was significant as campers and staff raced against each other to the stage once they knew the name of each song. It was a close game but the Tans came out on top this afternoon!

And then the highlight of each Friday night came…the campfire! It was led by Alana S who did an incredible job articulating the importance of tonight’s theme- I Am What I Am. Campers and staff read quotes, stories and poems. Leah B and Elle F shared with us sermonettes that they wrote which were perfect for this night. Zoe S threw in a keylog and stated, “I throw this keylog in for my cabin for loving me for who I am.” It was beautiful and the perfect ending to a wonderful campfire. I must say that I am so appreciative of campfires at Chippewa. I think taking a night each week to reflect on the past and to focus on a specific theme that holds significance in our camp community is invaluable. For me personally, it rejuvenates me and gives me another reason to be proud of CRC!

So there you go- I am still obsessed with this place, and I think it is safe to say that I am in good company. The staff is out of this world and this group of campers has totally and completely embraced all things Chippewa. How lucky are we?! Okay, that’s all for now…tomorrow you will be hearing from Sasha L who is switching places with me for Camper Counselor Day. Can’t wait! Talk to you all soon- thanks for reading.

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
