The Sari Diaries- Friday 7/3/15

Friday, July 03 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Happy 3rd of July! Around here, we are busy getting ready for tomorrow and excitement is in the air. We had a wonderful day which included regular activities, lots of sun and a lovely campfire honoring Les Siem. Here are the details…

  1. Rewinding to yesterday for a moment, I just want to tell you guys a couple of important bits about the amazing day. I had the privilege to teach sailing fourth and fifth periods. It was so great to be out on the lake enjoying the company of the sailors and instructors. A highlight was Rose B solo-sailing…it was quite impressive and she did it all with a huge smile on her face. The evening program was the Camper Talent show and there was quite a bit of talent shown…#ChippiesGotTalent. At the end of the show, we took an ALL CAMP trip to CATHY’s! Obviously, #TheRanch2015 went crazy when this was announced and everyone was elated to head down the road for some ice cream.

  1. As for today, lots of fun was had. Balloons were being popped at archery, Chippybats were practicing for the ski show tomorrow and volley technique was learned on the tennis courts. As I walked around to activities taking photos, it was great to see everyone actively participating.

  1. Bowed Legs and C-C came back from their camping trip this afternoon and we welcomed them back with open arms. It’s funny how even though they were gone for just over 24 hours, it seemed like a lifetime! They had a fantastic time sea kayaking on Lake Superior and loved spending time together. As Maddie F told the whole camp, “It was the best camping trip ever.” It is so nice to hear positive feedback from our campers after a camping trip especially when they are somewhat hesitant in the beginning.

  1. Tonight was a special program as we honored our caretaker, Les Siem at the Friday Night Campfire. The focus this week was loyalty which is truly the perfect theme to dedicate to Les. His passion and commitment to Chippewa over the past ten summers has been second to none and we feel incredibly lucky to have him as an integral part of the Chippewa family. Diana J led the campfire and many campers and staff participated in the program to thank Les for his kindness to camp and the people who care about it.

So that’s all from CRC today…it was great and we cannot wait for tomorrow…some might say it is the best day of camp each summer. Enjoy your night!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
