The Sari Diaries- Friday 7/29/16

Thursday, July 28 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Happy Friday! We had another great day at #TheRanch2016 and I am happy to report all about it. We had a number of visitors here along with prospect tours and a wonderful day of regular activities. It was all capped off with one of the best campfires I have experienced. Here are the highlights from our day…

After breakfast, we announced the Kahuna Day captains. Kahuna Day is our second session version of UN Day only there is a bit of a sillier twist. When deciding the captains, counselors think about both demonstrated leadership as well as leadership potential. There are four deserving captains from Colt Village and four from Wrangler Village. A big congratulations to Elana L, Faye B, Julianna G, Nicole B, Dylan G, Emma B, Lexi G and Abby C…we know that these eight campers are going to be incredible on Thursday for Kahuna Day!

It was a chilly one this morning, which was a nice break from the crazy warm weather we have been experiencing. Don’t worry though- it wasn’t too cold for regular activities! Campers were skiing around the lake, climbers were reaching the top to go down the zipline and fish were being caught! There was lots of action all over camp and campers were thrilled to have an entire day of activities.

Josh Keller, the new Chief Advancement Officer at Camp for All Kids came to visit today. It was good to have him here and to show him around camp. All of the Chippies were very welcoming and interested in talking to him to learn about what he does. Additionally, we have four alumni visitors here this weekend- Davia Douglas, Shana Goldberg, Jen Polan and Emily Shulman. Campers and staff love to have them here and listen to stories of Chippewa back in their day :). We love having alumni come to camp to demonstrate how the importance of camp truly follows people long after they are campers and staff here.

And then there was the campfire tonight…the theme was gratitude and the entire evening could not have been more positive. Lauren G led us and spoke really nicely. We had a sermonette from both Eden S and Loren H…they each expressed themselves really well and articulated how lucky we all are to spend our summers on Dam Lake with some of the kindest and most genuine people on the planet.

So there you have it- another incredible Friday at CRC. I can’t help but take this opportunity to once again reiterate that I am so grateful to be a part of this special community. I know I sound like a broken record but I don’t believe I can say it enough…there is no better place on Earth. Okay- thank you for reading this evening’s post…I hope you have a good one!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
