The Sari Diaries- Friday 6/6/14

Friday, June 06 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Thanks for coming back to read The Sari Diaries! Tonight, I am trying a new format and I hope you enjoy…

Here are today’s highlights:

  1. This morning, Lisa, Audry, Viv and Xio arrived (technically it was late last night). Lisa is already busy talking with parents, planning with the kitchen, looking over forms, ordering supplies and working on other projects to get ready for the campers’ arrival on June 16th. Audry and Viv are quickly re-acclimating to camp life. They jumped on the tramps, played on the swings and walked around camp enjoying the beautiful Northwoods.

2. Today was a big birthday for Meredith Epstein, the 2014 Arts Director and one of our twelve Ten Year Girls. We had a gluten-free cake, sang the birthday song to her and decorated the Adler Lodge for her. It is always fun to celebrate pre-pre-camp birthdays as it is a great way to prepare for all of our Chippy Summer birthdays.

  1. This afternoon, Suzy Topel and Luke Harris arrived. Suzy is returning for her eleventh summer and Luke is back for his third. They were welcomed with much excitement and it was incredible how quickly they got into helping with camp prep work.

  2. Today was the last day of our Red Cross Lifeguard Certification course. We officially have three re-certified lifeguards and two new lifeguards. Kate said the five of them demonstrated fantastic skills, competence and care throughout the week. They will join our other twenty-plus lifeguards that we have this summer, and we feel very lucky to have lifeguards and staff members who truly put the health and safety of our campers as their number one priority.

That is all of today’s excitement, but I do want to give a small shout-out to my parents, Nancy and Fritz, who are celebrating their 38th wedding anniversary tonight :). Okay, enjoy your evening…thanks again for reading!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
