Staff Spotlight- February 2015

Monday, February 16 by Sari Hirsch

This month’s Staff Spotlight features Emily Fradin. Fradin has been a member of the Chippewa family for quite a long time and she is amazing. We are thrilled and feel lucky to have such a caring and fun counselor back on the staff for 2015. Read below to understand just how awesome Fradin is :)…

How many summers have you been at camp?
This will be my ninth summer.

What cabin were you in during the summer of 2014?
Cactus

What is your favorite part about being a counselor at CRC?
I love my campers!!

What was your favorite memory from the summer of 2014?
My favorite day of camp is always the regatta. I just love being on the lake, so teaching sailing every day was always fun as well!

What is your favorite camp memory of all time?
My favorite camp memory of all time was the first Jenny Day. The staff soccer game was at the end of the day, and it started to rain. Instead of letting the rain ruin my day, my camp friends and I jumped on the tramps in the rain. When the rain let up, the sky turned pink. On our way back to our cabins, we saw a bunch of counselors jumping in the lake and begged them to jump in too. We jumped in the lake in our clothes, and it was one of those days that makes you appreciate the magic of camp.

What are you most looking forward to in the summer of 2015?
I’m really looking forward to teaching sailing again. I love being on the lake and driving the jet ski is a wonderful part of the job.

How do you stay in touch with your camp friends during the year?
Now that my age group is in college, it’s been a lot harder to see each other all the time. We still text each other and keep in touch, and I love when I bump into Chippies on the streets of Madison.

What do you do when you’re not at camp?
Spend lots of time in the state of Wisconsin! But seriously, I talk about camp and tell funny stories about my campers way too much. I’m pretty sure my roommate knows more about Chippewa than I do…and I’m sure she wished she went there.

Anything else you want to share with your Chippy family?
Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone and embarrass yourself- odds are you aren’t the only one and it’s time like those that make the best memories.
