James and Lakeview ’97 (summer of 1999)

This month’s Alumni Spotlight features James Keene. James was an awesome staff member who held a number of positions ranging from Tennis Instructor to Assistant Director. He was an integral part of the Chippewa operation during his time at camp and was adored by the entire CRC community. Read below to learn more about James!

What years were you at CRC?
1999-2004

Which summer was your favorite and why?
Favourite summer was 2001- great group of people. Good group of foreign staff.

What is your favorite camp memory?
Many favourite camp memories. Loved the start of summer. Getting camp ready for campers and enjoyed seeing everyone arrive on the busses. All so happy to see each other again.

What was your favorite activity at camp?
Favourite activity was sailing or wake boarding. Anything in the water.

Were you a Tan or a White?
I was a White early on but was a neutral for my last 3 summers.

How do you keep in touch with your camp friends?
Keep in touch mostly via Facebook but still see Stef Clark (Stiffy) often as we live in the same city.

Where do you live now?
I live in a suburb call Mt Eden in Auckland New Zealand.

What do you do?
I am now national sales manager for Panasonic New Zealand. Also father to Harry and Emily (5 yr old twins) and Chloe who we call Coco (2 yrs old) with my lovely wife Tash.

What do you miss most about camp?
I miss most the crazy dinning hall. All the singing and great food??!!! Noise, laughing. Announcements. All good fun.

Is there anything else you want to share with your Chippy family?
Hope everyone is doing well and I enjoy seeing a whole new generation of Chippies on Facebook smiling and laughing at camp. Just like the people I knew when I was there. So many good memories.
